Travel Tip

1. Climate
Taipei has volatile weather owing to the high mountain ranges that stretches between north and south. Taipei is clear and sunny, but you should have a small portable umbrella or raincoat handy when traveling to Hualian, Yehliu,or Jiufen.
2. Voltage
The local electricity used in Taipei is generally 110V, a flat plug. Most chargers nowadays are both 110V and 220V compatible, so just one or two flat adapters will do to make your trip convenient.
3. Map
Taipei people are known for their hospitality. If you are lost and wandering the streets with a map, somebody will come by to help you out. Be sure to have a map written in traditional Chinese used in Taipei.
4. Living
Making reservations are crucial in Taipei. If you go to a famous restaurant without a reservation, you may be turned away. You should ask a hotel staff to make a reservation for you and visit the night market on the first day after check-in.
5. Currency
The currency of Taipei is NTD.

Jinguashi Golden Waterfall

Jinguashi is notable for its historic gold mines in Taipei. There is a waterfall on the way to Jinguashi. The fall is nicknamed the Golden Falls because the color its water turned gold from a mixture of various minerals from the mine, and it painted all its surroundings in gold.

Jinguashi Gold Ecological Park

The Gold Museum houses an enormously large-sized piece of gold, and offers a gold mining experience for you to make memories.

Jiufen

This coal mining town on the hillside has received much attention due to its unique alleys and exotic scenery. The shops and unique red lights of along the alleys of this area offer a great scenery.

Beitou Park

Beitou is most famous for its hot springs. Once you enter the Beitou Park, you will be enchanted by its beauty, and inside the park are hot springs resorts and hot springs hotels.

Ketagalan Culture Center

If you walk through the Beitou Park, you will see the Ketagalan Culture Center to your left. The history of the Taipei Plains Indigenous Peoples (píngpuzúqún) is recorded in the cultural center.

Beitou Public Library

The library is situated inside the Beitou Park and surrounded by many trees. While you are reading, the sound of flowing water, the green view of the park, the sound of birds, and the scent of flowers will make you feel as if you are in the mountains.

Beitou Hot Spring Museum

With European-style exterior, it is a must-see place for tourists.

There is a square behind the building where you can relax while watching various performances.

Beitou Plum Garden

Beitou Plum Garden is the annex of educator and first generation calligrapher Yu Youren. On the stone pillar in front of the door, you can see calligraphy works of Yu Youren.

Thermal Valley

It gushes surfer smoke year round, resembling hell. Here, inside the dense forest, you can smell sulfur pervading over the rugged grounds and see the boiling hot springs.
