Passengers with Medical Assistance

Service for passengers in need of medical assistance

Incheon Airport
Electric Vehicle Service

Wheelchairs and electric vehicles are available for passengers who have difficulty walking due to an illness, injury, or old age, so that you can be assisted through check-in process, immigration procedure, and boarding.

Stretcher
  • A cabin stretcher is available for customers who have difficulty traveling while sitting due to physical or health issues.
  • Customers requiring a stretcher must receive medical clearance from Asiana Airlines in advance. Advance reservations and approval procedures must be completed at least 1 week before departure in order to use a stretcher.
Things to prepare to receive stretcher service
  • You must submit the paperwork for incapacitated passengers and a doctor's note for air travel that was written by your primary physician for advance approval from
    Asiana Airlines.
  • You must be accompanied by a medical staff member when using a stretcher.
  • Customers requiring use of a stretcher will be charged 6 times the amount of a one-way economy class ticket.
  • The accompanying guardian must also pay separate fares.

Medical Oxygen
  • Patients with severe anemia, patients who recently underwent surgery, and patients with a cardiovascular or respiratory disease may require an oxygen supply in the cabin.
  • Asiana Airlines is equipped with medical oxygen that can be loaded in the cabin. If it is determined that you will require oxygen supply after speaking with your primary physician,please submit the paperwork for incapacitated passengers and a doctor's note for air travel upon making your reservation.
  • If you will be using an oxygen tank in the cabin, you will be charged KRW 60,000 per tank for domestic flights and USD 120 per tank for international flights or an equivalent amount. There are no refunds even if you do not end up using the tank.
  • Reservations for cabin oxygen supply may be limited depending on the amount of oxygen reserved by Asiana Airlines, so please confirm if oxygen can be provided to you in advance.
  • If you require the use of auxiliary respiratory equipment in the cabin, please call the reservation center at least 48 hours before departure.

* For Business Class passengers, an additional charges may apply.

Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC)
  • Paperwork for incapacitated passengers and a doctor’s note for air travel are required during the reservation process.
  • You must confirm that the POC you intend to use is approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
  • The equipment must be battery operated for safety reasons. (Power cannot be used in the cabin.)
  • Please make sure that the battery life will last through around 150% of total flight time, considering transit time.
    The battery capacity must be 160 Wh or less.


Other Auxiliary Respiratory Equipment
  • Please inform one of our staff members during the reservation process if you need a CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) for sleep apnea syndrome.
    A doctor’s note for air travel may be required for medical conditions other than sleep apnea syndrome.
  • The equipment must be battery operated for safety reasons. (Power may not be used in the cabin.)
  • Please make sure that the battery life will last through around 150% of total flight time, considering transit time. The battery capacity must be 160 Wh or less.
Special In-flight Meals
  • Special in-flight meals are provided to passengers who are unable to eat regular in-flight meals due to medical reasons if a reservation is made in advance. Meals include diabetic meals, low salt meals, low fat meals, lactose-free meals, etc.
  • If you wish to have a special in-flight meal, please apply at least 24 hours before departure.

First Aid

Kit
  • All flights under Asiana Airlines are equipped with medicine and medical supplies that can be used in emergency situations.
  • Supplies include pain relievers, antacids, antihistamine, and other household medicine and medical supplies that can be used to sterilize and treat wounds.
  • If you suddenly feel unwell, please notify a flight attendant to use these supplies.

Emergency

Medical Kit
  • The emergency medical kit contains a blood pressure gauge and stethoscope as medical equipment that can be used by a doctor, equipment to free the airway and for oxygen supply, syringe and transfusion agent for emergency use, and supplies for simple sutures.
  • These supplies may be used at the doctor's request if an emergency situation occurs in the cabin.

Automated

External Defibrillator
  • Asiana Airlines is the first airline in Korea to be equipped with an automated external defibrillator.
  • The automated external defibrillator is a medical device that was designed to be conveniently used in emergency situations, such as a cardiac arrest. If necessary, you may receive assistance from a doctor and a flight attendant who is trained in CPR and measures to take in emergency cabin situations.
