This personal information policy specifies the terms related to the management and handling of personal information of members or non-members (hereinafter referred to as “the Users”) using the services of Asiana Airlines, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as Asiana Airlines)
Asiana Airlines is committed to protecting the rights and interests of its users by complying with the personal information protection regulations under the relevant laws and regulations, such as the Personal Information Protection Act, that personal information controllers must comply with, and also to establishing a personal information processing policy in accordance with relevant laws.

The information subject may provide Asiana Airlines with travel-related information that is considered sensitive personal information, such as medical conditions, wheelchair use, and religious dietary requests, in order to receive flight ticket discounts and services. This may result in situations where the health or religion of the service user can be inferred, and Asiana Airlines is committed to collecting and processing sensitive personal information only to the minimum extent necessary to provide services. If an information subject requests the processing of sensitive personal information, Asiana Airlines shall obtain the information subject’s explicit consent in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

B. Method of Collection of Personal Information

Asiana Airlines collects personal information directly from the information subject when using Asiana Airlines’ services (such as membership registration, participating in events, or contacting the Customer Center) through the website, mobile site, social media, or mobile applications, and when using the services of other companies or agencies that perform work on behalf of Asiana Airlines.
Asiana Airlines also indirectly collects personal information about information subjects from other information subject controllers. (For example: reservation system providers, information provided to other airlines to book connecting flights, etc.) The camera feature in the mobile app is only used to recognize passports, baggage barcodes, and to implement augmented reality for customer convenience when using features such as check-in, baggage tracking, and nearby location. It is not stored or used as separate images.

3. Personal Information retention and use period

A.

Asiana Airlines holds and uses the personal information provided by the Users during the period in which the Users use the services of Asiana Airlines.

B.

Asiana Airlines will dispose of a member's private information within a day through deletion of member DB and disposal of documents in the following circumstances: if a member withdraws from Asiana Club; if a member is disqualified; if the purpose of collection has been achieved; or if Asiana Airlines closes its business. If there are no records of an Asiana member logging in to our website in the past 5 years or has not earned or redeemed miles for 5 years, it is stored and managed separately in a separate database(DB). Such accounts can only be reactivated through an identity verification process. Once reactivated, the members can fully enjoy the benefits of the Asiana Club.

Records required to be preserved under relevant laws, such as the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, are destroyed after being retained for a specified period.

4. Procedure and Method of Disposal of Personal Information

The personal information of Users is immediately disposed of after the purpose of its collection and use has been fulfilled.
Personal information saved in a digital format is deleted by using technology that prevents the recovery of records.

A. Procedure of disposal

  • Information entered by Users for enrollment or other purposes is disposed of for the protection of information in accordance with the corporate policy and other applicable laws after the purpose of its collection has been fulfilled.
  • The above information, unless otherwise required by law, shall not be used for purposes other than the original purpose.

Upon entering into an entrustment contract, Asiana Airlines specifies in written documents, such as contracts, matters concerning responsibilities pursuant to Article 26 of the Personal Information Protection Act. This includes the prohibition of processing personal information for purposes other than the performance of the entrusted duties, technical and administrative protective measures, restrictions on re-entrustment, management and supervision of the trustee, and compensation for damages. Furthermore, we supervise the trustee to ensure that personal information is processed securely.

G.

In accordance with Article 26, Paragraph 6 of the Personal Information Protection Act, if a trustee re-entrusts our personal information processing duties to a third party, it is subject to the prior consent of Asiana Airlines. We disclose the sub-trustees and the scope of re-entrusted duties through this Privacy Policy. Additionally, any changes to the nature of the entrusted duties or the identity of the trustees will be disclosed immediately through this Privacy Policy.

Pursuant to Article L. 237-7 of the French Internal Security Code, the airline may transmit reservation, check-in, and boarding information (API/PNR) collected from passengers to French government authorities, in accordance with the processing methods and purposes prescribed in Decree No. 2014-1095, effective as of September 26, 2014 (as amended by Decree No. 2018-714 on March 8, 2018).

In the event of an emergency—such as disasters, infectious diseases, incidents or accidents causing imminent danger to life or body, or imminent loss of property— Asiana Airlines may provide personal information to relevant authorities without the consent of the data subject. In such cases, Asiana Airlines will provide only the minimum necessary personal information in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations, and will not provide it for purposes other than those specified.

7. International Transmission of Personal Information

To fulfill the contract and to offer improved convenience to our customers, we outsource the processing of personal information overseas as follows.
Users may refuse the overseas transfer of their personal information through the applicable department or Customer Center. Should you refuse the overseas transfer of your personal information, we will exclude your personal information from being transferred overseas. However, in this case, the use of services that necessitate the overseas transfer of personal information may be restricted.

9. Rights of Information Subjects and Legal Guardians and How to Exercise Them

A. Rights of information subjects and their legal representatives

  • The information subject may exercise the right to request Asiana Airlines to access, correct, delete, or suspend processing of personal information at any time. If such a request is made, Asiana Airlines will take the necessary measures without delay, after verifying whether it is the same person.
  • Information subjects and their legal representatives may view or modify their registered personal information at any time, and may request cancellation of their membership.
  • To view and modify your personal information, you can change or withdraw from the online platform MY ASIANA menu, or you can request it through the Asiana Club Center at 1588-8180.
  • The right to view personal information and request suspension of processing may be restricted in accordance with Article 35, Paragraph 4, and Article 37, Paragraph 2, of the Personal Information Protection Act. In addition, requests for correction or deletion of personal information cannot be made if other laws state that such personal information is subject to collection.
  • If a data subject or their legal representative requests the correction of errors in personal information, the relevant personal information will not be used or provided until the correction is completed.

B. Personal information of children and rights of their legal representatives

  • Asiana Airlines shall obtain the consent of guardians when it collects the personal information of a child under age 14, discloses the collected information to a third party or uses the personal information for purposes other than the original purpose. Accordingly, a child under age 14 may register only when his or her guardian agrees with the terms of collection of the personal information of the child.
  • The guardian of a child under age 14 may request to view, correct, terminate or withdraw from the agreement in relation to the personal information of the child. Asiana Airlines, upon receiving such a request, shall immediately take the necessary measures after authenticating the ID of the guardian.

Asiana Airlines is looking to, under the member's consent, collect personal information in order to manage and provide top of the line services along with marketing activities

A. Asiana Airlines does not disclose the personal information of members to any third party without the consent of the member (except in cases where it is required by law to do so).
If a member uses the services of a partner of Asiana Airlines, the personal information of the member may be disclosed to a minimal extent.

B. Asiana Airlines is responsible for damages caused in relation to the use of private information members have provided for purposes other than collection, or for disclosure to a third party without consent, excluding the circumstances described in the above paragraph. If a member discloses his or her private information intentionally or out of negligence; provides false information; or has failed to report changes in private information, causing discrepancies, the above provision is not applicable.


5. Terms of Maintenance and Use of Private Information

A. Asiana Airlines will dispose a member’s private information within a day through deletion of member DB and disposal of documents in the following circumstances: if a member withdraws from Asiana Club; if a member is disqualified; if the purpose of collection has been achieved; or if Asiana Airlines closes its business. Records maintained under the applicable laws and regulations, including the Act on Consumer Protection in e-commerce, are disposed after being kept for a fixed period of time. (Records on contracts or cancellation of transactions: five years; records on customer complaints and handling of conflicts: three years)

B. If there are no records of an Asiana member logging in to our website in the past 5 year or has not earned or redeemed miles for 5 year, it is stored and managed separately in a separate database. (DB) Such accounts can only be reactivated through an identity verification process. Once reactivated, the members can fully enjoy the benefits of the Asiana Club.
