Checked Baggage

Excess Baggage (International)

  • Even if the total size (length + width + height) of the baggage does not exceed 292 cm, shipment may be denied on the day of departure, depending on cargo space availability.
  • Excess baggage fees will be charged for baggage that exceeds the free baggage allowance.
  • Excess baggage fees are based on the quantity, weight, and size of the baggage, and vary depending on the flight time of each route.
  • Depending on the local currency, excess baggage fees may differ for flights departing from overseas locations.
  • The maximum weight and volume of checked baggage may vary by The country of departure or arrival.
  • For the safety of the baggage handlers, the maximum weight of the checked baggage should not exceed 32 kg. Transportation of the baggage may be denied, otherwise.
  • Currency used for payment
    • * Departing from Korea: KRW
    • * Departing from the U.S.: USD
    • * Departing from all other countries: USD standard amount is converted into local currency according to the bank sell rate on that day.
  • Pre-purchase baggage service is not available for passengers with transfer flights and codeshare flights of other Airlines.

  • 'Within Asia' refers to routes excluding short-haul flights within 1.5 hours from Korea and flights to Japan/China/Taiwan/Hong Kong/Macao/Mongolia.

  • Excess baggage fees will be charged for baggage that exceeds the free baggage allowance.

Excess Baggage Fee

  • KRW 2,000 per kilogram for excess baggage (e.g., KRW 20,000 for 10 kg)

Excess baggage fee refund policy in case of delayed baggage arrival on flights to/from the U.S.

The U.S. Department of Transportation (U.S. DOT) excess baggage fee refund policy applies, as described below.

  • 1.Effective from: October 28, 2024 (based on arrivals in the U.S.)
  • 2.Applicable routes: Flights to and from the U.S.
  • 3.Baggage for which the passenger paid an excess baggage fee is subject to the following refund standards.
    • 1)If the baggage is not delivered within the standard time, the excess baggage fee paid will be refunded.

      • -Flights within 12 hours on U.S. routes: Baggage delivery within 15 hours
      • -Flights over 12 hours on U.S. routes: Baggage delivery within 30 hours
