Mileage Deduction for the Peak Season

Mileage Redemption Policy for Infants and Children

  • For infants under the age of 2 (as of the date of travel), 10% of the adult mileage will be redeemed.
  • For children between the ages of 2 and 12 on domestic flights, and between 2 and 11 on international flights (as of the date of travel), 75% of the adult mileage will be redeemed.
  • For unaccompanied minors on both domestic and international flights, the same mileage as an adult will be redeemed.
  • If you upgrade your seat using miles, the fare rules and validity of the original paid ticket will apply.

  • Footnote 1) Refund fees for upgrade award tickets will follow the refund regulations of the original paid ticket.
    For refunding the upgrade award (seat upgrades) only, a fee of USD 30 or 3,000 miles applies within 90 days of the departure date, and USD 100 or 10,000 miles applies after 12 months from the date of issue.
  • * No-show penalty: Applies to passengers who fail to cancel their confirmed flight before the scheduled departure time.
  • * Gate no-show penalty: Applies to passengers who voluntarily choose not to board the flight after entering the departure hall.
  • * Upgrade award refunds cannot be processed online. Please visit an Asiana Airlines regional office.
  • * If you request a refund for your entire or partial mileage ticket, the refund will be issued excluding the mileage that has already been used.
    (If the unused portion is refunded after using the first segment of an itinerary involving a stopover in Korea, the deduction rule for two-way itineraries will not be applied.)
  • * The validity period of mileage refunded due to the cancellation of a mileage ticket (including upgrade awards and other mileage redemption programs) will follow the original validity of the mileage used at the time of issuance. Expired mileage at the time of refund will not be reinstated, and only valid mileage within its original validity period will be refunded.

Itinerary Change for Upgrade Awards

  • Please check in advance whether itinerary change is allowed according to the rules and expiration date of your ticket.
  • You may change the itinerary of the ticket you have purchased to the same mileage redemption criteria (same region, season and class) without charges.
  • Itinerary changes for mileage tickets are only available within the same major route. If you change to a different major route, all applicable mileage will be refunded first and then re-deducted.
    (The major routes are divided into Japan, China/Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Americas, Europe, and Oceania. For refunds, a refund fee will be charged and mileage that has expired will not be refunded. Only mileage with an unexpired validity period will be refunded.)

Taxes and Charges Applicable

  • When issuing Flight Awards, Asiana Club members are responsible for paying fuel surcharges, airport facility usage fees (domestic and international), taxes, public utility charges including those from the Tourism Promotion and Development Fund, and any additional applicable fees.
  • Fuel surcharges and international airport facility fees may vary depending on the exchange rate at the time of ticket issuance.

Restrictions

  • You can use your earned mileage to upgrade your ticket to the next class.
  • Class upgrades will be available exclusively for tickets issued for the following reservation class (fare).

    • For upgrade awards, the respective flight ticket regulations will apply and classes that are eligible for an upgrade award are subjected to frequent changes depending on changes in fare.
  • Tickets sold under the following conditions are not eligible for upgrade awards.
    1. Tickets with a discount of 50% or higher on the Fare Basis of the tickets
    2. Award tickets, free tickets, tickets for groups and IT fare tickets
    3. Tickets marketed under the condition that seat upgrades are not allowed by Asiana Airlines

Other

  • When using an upgrade award, airport services (check-in counter, lounge access, and baggage allowance) are provided based on the upgraded class. However, mileage accrual is based on the original class of the purchased ticket.
  • If your seat has been upgraded using miles, the fare rules and validity of the original ticket will continue to apply.
  • Upgrade awards are only available on regularly scheduled flights operated by Asiana Airlines.
  • Seats for flight awards and upgrade awards are managed separately from those for regular revenue tickets. During high-peak seasons, 50% more Asiana miles may be required for redemption.

  • For routes without Premium Class, the standard Premium Class mileage deduction of 10,000 miles per one-way trip (20,000 miles for round-trip) will not be applied.

Mileage Deduction for the Peak Season

  • The high-peak season or the low-peak season is applied based on the date of boarding for each route. Additional 50% of miles are redeemed during the high-peak season compared to the low-peak season.
  • For round-trips with layovers in Korea, high/normal season is determined by the boarding date of the first flight in each route. If the cabin classes are different, your mileage will be applied based on the highest of the cabin classes used.
  • Platinum and Diamond Plus members are exempted from additional deduction during peak-season when they issue from their own account or issue a transfer from the relevant elite member account.
    • Additional deduction when Platinum and Diamond Plus members issue a transfer from a member of other class.
    • Additional deduction when Platinum and Diamond Plus member mileage is combined and issued by other class members.
