Mileage Deduction for the Peak Season

Mileage deduction Criteria for Infants and Children

  • 10% of miles redeemed for adults are redeemed for an infant under 2.
  • For a child between the ages of 2 and 12 on a domestic flight (as of the date of boarding), 75% of the miles for adults will be redeemed. For a child between the ages of 2 and 11 on an international flight (as of the date of boarding), 75% of the miles for adults will be redeemed.
  • For unaccompanied minors on domestic and international flights, the mileage deducted is the same as for adults.
  • If you have upgraded your seat by redeeming miles, the regulations and the expiry of the paid ticket are applied.

  • Footnote 1) When refunding the upgrade award ticket, the refund fee will be determined according to the regulations of the paid ticket.
    For refunding upgrade award(seat upgrades) alone, the refund fee of USD30 or 3,000 miles applies within 90 days of the departure date, and USD100 or 10,000 miles applies after 12 months from the date of issue.
  • * No-show penalty : Passengers who failed to cancel the confirmed flight up to the departure time
  • * Gate No-show penalty : Customers who voluntarily do not board the flight after entering the departure hall
  • * Refunds will not be made online after requesting upgrade award, so please visit an Asiana Airlines regional office.
  • * If you refund your entire or partial mileage ticket, it will be refunded excluding the mileage you used.
    (If the unused portion is refunded after using the first section of the two-way travel in Korea, the two-way deduction standard is not applied.)
  • * The validity period of the mileage refunded by canceling the mileage ticket (including upgrade seatings and other mileage deductions) will be the same as that of the mileage used at issue. Miles that have expired upon refund will not be refunded due to expiration. Only those that remain valid will be refunded.

Itinerary Change for Upgrade Awards

  • Please check in advance whether itinerary change is allowed according to the rules and expiration date of your ticket.
  • You may change the itinerary of the ticket you have purchased to the same mileage redemption criteria (same region, season and class) without charges.
  • Itinerary changes for mileage tickets are only available within the same major route. If you change to a different major route, all applicable mileage will be refunded first and then re-deducted.
    (The major routes are divided into Japan, China/Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Americas, Europe, and Oceania. For refunds, a refund fee will be charged and mileage that has expired will not be refunded. Only mileage with an unexpired validity period will be refunded.)

Taxes and Charges Applicable

  • At the issuance of Flight Awards, Asiana Club Members are required to pay for fuel surcharges, fees for using domestic ∙ international airports’ facilities, taxes and the public utilities' charges from Tourism Promotion and Development Fund, extra charges, and other charges. Fuel surcharges and fees for using international airports’ facilities may be subject to the exchange rate at the date of issuance.

  • You can use your earned mileage to upgrade your ticket to the next class.
  • Class upgrades will be available exclusively for tickets issued for the following reservation class (fare).

    • For upgrade awards, the respective flight ticket regulations will apply and classes that are eligible for an upgrade award are subjected to frequent changes depending on changes in fare.
  • Tickets sold under the following conditions are not eligible for upgrade awards.
    1. Tickets with a discount of 50% or higher on the Fare Basis of the tickets
    2. Award tickets, free tickets, tickets for groups and IT fare tickets
    3. Tickets marketed under the condition that seat upgrades are not allowed by Asiana Airlines
    4. Tickets marketed by other airlines as U, Q, K, S, V, L, W, T, and G classes

Other

  • If you have used upgrade awards, the airport services (check-in counter, lounge and free baggage allowances) are offered based on the upgraded seat class, and the boarding miles are earned based on the class of the ticket purchased.
  • If you have upgraded your seat by redeeming miles, the policy and the expiry of the ticket purchased are applied.
  • Upgrade Award is available only on regular flights operated by Asiana Airlines.
  • Seats reserved for flight awards or upgrades awards are managed separately from seats reserved for regular ticket purchases. 50% more Asiana miles will be redeemed if you reserve a flight during the high-peak season.

Mileage Deduction for the Peak Season

  • The high-peak season or the low-peak season is applied based on the date of boarding for each route. Additional 50% of miles are redeemed during the high-peak season compared to the low-peak season.
  • For round-trips with layovers in Korea, high/normal season is determined by the boarding date of the first flight in each route. If the cabin classes are different, your mileage will be applied based on the highest of the cabin classes used.
  • Platinum and Diamond Plus members are exempted from additional deduction during peak-season when they issue from their own account or issue a transfer from the relevant elite member account.
    • Additional deduction when Platinum and Diamond Plus members issue a transfer from a member of other class.
    • Additional deduction when Platinum and Diamond Plus member mileage is combined and issued by other class members.
