Address 88 Changgyeonggung-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul (Near Jongno 5-ga Station on Line 1)

Being Seoul's largest traditional market and Korea's first traditional trading market, Gwangjang Market, opened in 1905, is a historic market that has kept those who are tired from a hard day happy. Pajeon, Bindaetteok, Gimbap, banquet noodles, meat pancakes and Yukhoe are all famous, and the market is always crowded with people for its low prices and generous portions. In particular, it is visited more on rainy days, so much so that there is an old saying in Korea that people should have Bindaetteok when it rains.

There are cultural heritages such as Gyeongbokgung Palace, Changdeokgung Palace, Jongmyo Shrine, and tourist attractions such as Cheonggyecheon Stream and Dongdaemun nearby, so why don't you stop by and enjoy delicious food when you visit them?

Samgyupsal

Grilled pork with fresh vegetables,
time to take a big bite!

Samgyulsal refers to the area of pork belly attached to the rib. Rich in fat, it gives a savory taste when grilled, making it very popular among people of all ages. Try putting a piece of well-grilled pork belly on top of lettuce or perilla leaves, with garlic and vegetables on top of sweet and spicy Ssamjang – The combination of the taste is fantastic when you chew it in one bite.

If you boil the pork belly part, it becomes a food called ‘Suyuk’. It’s less greasy than grilled pork belly, and it tastes really good when wrapped with Kimchi or cabbage.

Korean Fried Chicken

The exquisite combination of soft chicken and crispy batter!

Koreans’ all-time favourite! It’s fried chicken. Fried chicken in batter creates an exquisite combination of soft and crispy texture. Tteokbokki with cheese to add savory flavors or rosé sauce is also popular these days, so make sure to try it as well!

A food where savory ham, sausage, and spicy soup fell in love!

It is said that Budae Jjigae originated from putting boiling water and Kimchi with food, such as sausages, ham and bacon, that were supplied to the US military troops stationed in S. Korea and leaked out of the unit during Korean War. For this reason, it was named "Budae Jjigae,“ which is a combination of “Army" and “Stew."

The salty taste of sausages and ham blended into spicy soup makes it filling and easy to make. It is popular to students due to its affordable price, and it goes really well with toppings like Ramyeon noodles, Tteok and Mandu.
