Shenzhen, a different side of China

Shenzhen is the richest and third largest city in China. It was designated as the nation’s first special economic zone on August 26, 1980. It is also the first city where modern capitalism was introduced by Deng Xiaoping. In addition, the whole city is decorated like a park, with palm trees and other various species of tropical trees beautifully lining the streets, while well-organized shrubbery and groves are found throughout the downtown area, along with well developed walkways, bicycle roads and coastal roads.

Shenzhen has been called another China within China. The average age of the city’s population is mid-thirties, making it the youngest city in China and a location that is always invigorating. Shenzhen is located between Hong KOng and Macao and acts as a hub. You can travel to both of these areas within 1 hour from Shenzhen. Shenzhen has the highest GDP in China, excluding Hong KOng and Macao. The price of goods is similar to that of Seoul and economic standards are similar to Seoul as well.

Unlike other cities in China, there are no major historical sites in Shenzhen, but there are many activities that can typically be enjoyed in international cities. For example, you can enjoy dinner at international restaurants or pay a visit to the movies or the Cantonese opera. There are several beach resorts, such as theme parks and Dameisha, which are very popular with foreign as well as domestic tourists.
