Asiana Airlines

  • You may get flight awards by redeeming the miles you have earned. Flight awards are available when there are unoccupied seats at point of departure of a flight, but for your convenience in planning your trip, seats for flight awards are allocated in advance. Seats for flight awards are managed separately from seats for regular tickets, and the number of seats allocated to flight awards is determined according to the season, day and flight by analyzing the boarding history.

  • Seats reserved for flight awards or upgrades awards are managed separately from seats reserved for regular ticket purchases. 50% more Asiana miles will be redeemed if you reserve a flight during the high-peak season. Please make a reservation for the flight award class when you make a reservation at the website. If you are making a reservation through the reservation center, please indicate your intention to use the flight awards or upgrade awards, or your reservation may be cancelled or boarding may be rejected.
  • When the reservation is complete, get your PNR. (Reservation Number). You may have to present your PNR at point of the ticket issuance and seat selection.
  • For upgrade awards, you need to make a reservation for the class to use. If you have issued the Economy Class Ticket and made a reservation for the Economy Class, please request a reservation for an upgrade award at the reservation center.
  • Purchase of flight awards cannot be done through a travel agency, but only through Asiana Airlines.

Mileage Deduction for the Peak Season

Mileage deduction Criteria for Infants and Children

  • For international flights, mileage for infants under the age of 2 will be deducted at a rate of 10% of the adult mileage deduction. (Infant seat vacant)
  • For a child between the ages of 2 and 12 on a domestic flight (as of the date of boarding), 75% of the miles for adults will be redeemed. For a child between the ages of 2 and 11 on an international flight (as of the date of boarding), 75% of the miles for adults will be redeemed.
  • For unaccompanied minors on domestic and international flights, the mileage deducted is the same as for adults.
  • Flight Awards are valid for a year from the date of ticket issuance, and are not extendable.

Refund and change

  • Flight Awards are not refunded as cash, and sales and exchange of Flight Awards are prohibited. Flight Awards shall be used by a passenger whose name is specified on the ticket, and transfer of Flight Awards is not allowed.
  • For domestic routes, either a refund fee or no-show penalty applies, while for international routes, separate refund fees and reissuance fee also apply along with no-show penalty.

  • 1) This fee applies to each passenger (each ticket) for refunds made within 12 months of Mileage Ticket issuance (including class and seating upgrades). Refunds made after 12 months of issuance are subject to fees of 10,000 miles or USD 100 per passenger (per ticket) for both domestic/international flights.
  • 2) For refunds and changes (reissuances) of mileage ticket after failing to board the flight following the check-in process or without canceling the reservation before flight departure, only a no-show penalty will be applied for domestic flights. For international flights, refund fees and change (reissuance) fees will be applied in addition to the no-show penalty.
  • 3) When requesting refund for mileage flight tickets on the day of purchase or within 24 hours of purchase for international mileage flight tickets (Excluding Upgrade Awards) that are purchased at least 7 days prior to departure, no refund penalties or fees are imposed.
  • 4) For international flights, reissue fees will be charged for changing the date/section/season before departure.
    A date change (same route, same season) can be made for the inbound flight after the outbound flight is used without a reissue fee.
  • 5) If you refund your entire or partial mileage ticket, it will be refunded excluding the mileage you used.
    (If the unused portion is refunded after using the first section of the two-way travel in Korea, the two-way deduction standard is not applied.)
  • * Full refunds are only available through the Asiana Airlines homepage.
  • * Partial refunds are available upon request by visiting your local Asiana Airlines branch.
  • * Refund fees apply when refunding an existing ticket due to changes in fuel surcharges and issuing a new ticket.
  • * Refunds online will only be charged for mileage and international booking change (reissue) fees online will be charged for USD 30. You cannot change the fee after processing.
  • * The validity period of the mileage refunded by canceling the mileage ticket (including upgrade seatings and other mileage deductions) will be the same as that of the mileage used at issue. Miles that have expired upon refund will not be refunded due to expiration. Only those that remain valid will be refunded.

Itinerary Change for Flight Awards

  • No change to the reverse section is allowed
    Ex 1) Incheon-Narita-Incheon round-trip ticket: after the Incheon-Narita flight has been boarded, the remaining segments cannot be used as a separate Incheon-Narita ticket.
    Ex 2) Incheon-Narita one-way ticket: cannot be used as a Narita-Incheon ticket (instead, the ticket must be reissued as a Narita-Incheon ticket or a new ticket must be issued after a refund has been completed)
  • Itinerary changes for mileage tickets are only available within the same major route. If you change to a different major route, all applicable mileage will be refunded first and then re-deducted.
    (The major routes are divided into Japan, China/Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Americas, Europe, and Oceania. For refunds, a refund fee will be charged and mileage that has expired will not be refunded. Only mileage with an unexpired validity period will be refunded.)

Use of Flight Awards

  • Award tickets can be ticketed via the Asiana Airlines website or mobile app.
  • Pre-reserved award tickets must be ticketed by the 'Ticket Time Limit' via the Asiana Airlines website or mobile app. Reservations will be automatically canceled when the 'Ticket Time Limit' expires.
  • Seats reserved for flight awards or upgrades awards are managed separately from seats reserved for regular ticket purchases. 50% more Asiana miles will be redeemed if you reserve a flight during the high-peak season.
  • The range of online services may be limited, so please check details through the website.

Taxes and Charges Applicable

  • At the issuance of Flight Awards, Asiana Club Members are required to pay for fuel surcharges, fees for using domestic ∙ international airports’ facilities, taxes and the public utilities' charges from Tourism Promotion and Development Fund, extra charges, and other charges. Fuel surcharges and fees for using international airports’ facilities may be subject to the exchange rate at the date of issuance.

Restrictions

  • A passenger using flight awards cannot use the upgrade service even though the passenger pays the fare difference.
  • Flight awards cannot be used with other certificates, coupons, discounts and promotions unless specified otherwise.
  • Miles and benefits are not transferred to a third party (including family) if a member is deceased.
  • Miles earned by boarding the flight on the day cannot be used for flight awards (including upgrade awards) on the day.
  • For international flights, seat reservation and ticket issuance must be completed before boarding, and you are not allowed to wait at the airport and issue a ticket at the airport on the date of boarding.
  • You are not allowed to issue a ticket (including upgrade awards) and board a flight if you make a reservation for seats in classes other than the designated class.

Other

  • Passenger flying with flight award ticket are also eligible for compensation for delays, cancellations of flights and denied boarding.
  • Flight awards are not refunded as cash, and sales and exchange of Flight Awards are prohibited.
  • Flight awards shall be used by a passenger whose name is marked on the ticket, and cannot be transferred.

  • For routes without Premium Class, the standard Premium Class mileage deduction of 10,000 miles per one-way trip (20,000 miles for round-trip) will not be applied.

Mileage Deduction for the Peak Season

  • The high-peak season or the low-peak season is applied based on the date of boarding for each route. Additional 50% of miles are redeemed during the high-peak season compared to the low-peak season.
  • For round-trips with layovers in Korea, high/normal season is determined by the boarding date of the first flight in each route. If the cabin classes are different, your mileage will be applied based on the highest of the cabin classes used.
  • Platinum and Diamond Plus members are exempted from additional deduction during peak-season when they issue from their own account or issue a transfer from the relevant elite member account.
    • Additional deduction when Platinum and Diamond Plus members issue a transfer from a member of other class.
    • Additional deduction when Platinum and Diamond Plus member mileage is combined and issued by other class members.
