Pregnant Passengers

Important Information
  • Passengers with pregnancy-related complications or a risk of miscarriage or premature delivery must obtain prior approval from Asiana Airlines before traveling, regardless of the stage of pregnancy, to help ensure passenger and operational safety.
  • Medical professionals generally recommend avoiding air travel during the first three months of pregnancy and after 36 weeks.

Air Travel Guidelines by Stage of Pregnancy

Less Than 32 Weeks
Pregnant
  • Passengers who are less than 32 weeks pregnant may travel without restriction unless they have pregnancy-related complications, such as gestational hypertension or diabetes, or a confirmed risk of miscarriage or premature delivery.
32 Weeks to Less Than 37 Weeks Pregnant
  • At check-in, passengers must submit a signed declaration form and the required medical documentation.
  • The medical documentation must confirm fitness for air travel and the expected date of delivery. It must also state the gestational age, whether this is the passenger’s first pregnancy, whether there are any signs of labor or pregnancy-related complications, and any precautions required during the flight.
  • Required medical documentation: one original and two copies of a medical certificate or physician’s statement issued within 7 days before departure.
37+ weeks pregnant
  • For safety reasons, passengers who are 37 weeks pregnant or more are not permitted to travel.
  • For multiple pregnancies, travel is not permitted from 33 weeks of pregnancy.
