Ticket Change and Refund

At the customer’s request, changes may be made to the itinerary, operating carrier, fare type, or validity period.
As fare rules and cancellation policies may differ depending on the fare conditions and place of purchase, please contact your point of purchase or the airline for further assistance.

As rules regarding price differences and cancellation may vary according to the sale fare and place of purchase, please contact your place of purchase or airline with any queries.

International flight ticket changes and reservations
  • Please bring a printed copy of your e-ticket itinerary and receipt when checking in at the airport. You may also check in online through the Asiana Airlines website or mobile app before boarding your flight.
  • The passenger’s name on the ticket must match the name shown on the passport.
  • Flight coupons must be used in the sequence of travel, beginning with the first sector of departure.
Domestic flight ticket changes and reservations
  • Domestic fares may vary depending on the date, time, and route of travel, and passengers may need to pay the fare difference between the new and previous itinerary. A new ticket can be issued after the refund has been processed.
  • Domestic ticket validity is one year from the original date of purchase and cannot be extended. Tickets must be used within the validity period.
  • Depending on the fare type, certain restrictions may apply for tickets with a validity period of less than one year. For detailed information, please contact your point of purchase or Asiana Airlines sales office.
Change of payment method
  • Changes to the payment method of a purchased ticket are not permitted. This includes switching between cash and card, changing the card type (e.g., personal to corporate), or adjusting the installment plan.
  • Before boarding, a full refund must be processed for the previously purchased ticket before buying a new one. Refund fees will apply according to fare rules, and the new ticket price may differ from the original fare paid.
  • Changes to the payment method or card are not allowed after travel has been completed.

Seat Upgrade

You may upgrade your ticket to a higher class by using Asiana Club mileage or by paying the fare difference.

Upgrade Awards
with Mileage
  • You can upgrade to the next class by redeeming miles from your Asiana Club account.
  • However, upgrades for more than one class level at a time are not permitted. Please note that upgrades to the next class are not available under the following conditions.

    • Flight tickets sold under conditions that restrict upgrades
    • Tickets issued with mileage redemption

    • Flight tickets issued by Star Alliance partners or other airlines (booking classes U, Q, K, S, V, L, W, T, G)
Seat Upgrade by Paying the Fare Difference between Classes
  • You may upgrade your seat by paying the fare difference between classes and applicable reissue fees. Tickets subject to fare restrictions are not eligible for upgrade.
Refunds/Cancellations for Flight Tickets
  • Refund and cancellation regulations may differ depending on the place of purchase. Please contact your point of purchase for detailed information.
  • Refund requests for domestic tickets must be made within the ticket validity period.
  • Refund requests for international tickets must be made within 30 days after the ticket’s validity period expires.
  • Refunds must be requested by the ticket holder in person. If submitted through a representative, additional documents may be required, please contact the point of purchase for details.
  • For unused international tickets departing from Korea, additional refund penalties may apply depending on the refund request date.
Refund Policy
  • Refunds for tickets purchased with cash will be deposited into the ticket holder’s bank account.
  • Tickets purchased by credit card cannot be refunded in cash. Refunds will be processed through the respective card company in accordance with its regulations.
  • The refund period for credit card purchases may vary depending on the card issuer’s processing cycle and payment date. For detailed information, please contact your credit card company 2–5 business days after the refund has been approved.
No-Show Penalty

A no-show penalty will be charged if you do not cancel your confirmed flight before departure or if you fail to board after check-in. Additional reissue or refund fees may apply for itinerary changes or refunds, in accordance with the fare rules.

Starting from November 10, 2020, a ticketing fee will apply when issuing or reissuing international tickets or mileage redemption tickets at Asiana Airlines’ reservation centers, city offices, or airport branches, as outlined below.

Electronic Ticket Itinerary and Receipt Information

  • Your e-ticket itinerary and receipt may be required for presentation at immigration or customs. Please print and keep it with you throughout your journey. You may also refer to the attached legal notice for more details.
  • Please bring a printed copy of your e-ticket itinerary and receipt when checking in at the airport. You may also check in online through the Asiana Airlines website or mobile app before boarding your flight.
  • The passenger’s name on the ticket must match the name shown on the passport.
  • Flight coupons must be used in the sequence of travel, beginning with the first sector of departure.
  • Itinerary changes on code-share flights must be requested by the passenger in advance and are subject to the operating carrier’s regulations.
  • Check-in counters for code-share flights may vary depending on the operating carrier.

1) Routes :

  • Short haul: Japan, China, HongKong, Taipei, Kaohshiung, Ulaanbaatar
  • Medium haul: Southeast Asia(Excluding HongKong, Taipei, Kaohshiung), Almaty, Tashkent, Saipan, Palau
  • Long haul: Americas, Europe, Australia, Middle East
  • Refund penalties and refund service fees will be waived for unused tickets that are requested 91 days prior to departure date.
  • For fully unused tickets cancelled within 24 hours of purchase, the refund penalty/service fee will be waived.
    (However, this is limited to tickets directly purchased from Asiana, its website and mobile app or the tickets purchased from agencies in Korea)
  • For partially used tickets, fares for the used sections and refund penalties will be deducted. (Please check the partial refund penalty)
  • For tickets with two or more different combined fares, different refund penalties may apply depending on the itinerary and fare combination.
  • Refunds for fully unused tickets are subject to different refund penalties based on when the refund request is submitted.
    However, if a ticket was reissued before May 23, 2024, the partial refund penalty for the originally issued ticket or the reissued ticket, whichever is higher, will apply.
  • The same discount rate applies to the refund penalties of child/infant tickets.
  • Bonus tickets, group tickets, and special offers are subject to separate regulations.

  • Refund charges will be waived if the entire unused ticket is refunded prior to flight departure on the day of purchase.
  • Award tickets, group tickets and promotion tickets will be subject to separate rules.
  • Tickets purchased through travel agencies other than the Asiana Airlines website/mobile app and Reservation Center may be subject to separate rules.

Information on the refund process for irregular flight operations to/from the U.S.

In accordance with the enhanced U.S. Department of Transportation (U.S. DOT) “Refunds and Other Consumer Protections” policy, the refund policy and procedures for tickets and paid additional service charges in the event of irregular operations are as follows.


  1. Effective from: October 28, 2024
  2. Applicable routes: Flights to and from the U.S.
  3. Applicable to: Tickets and paid additional service charges
  4. Applicability standards

    1) Flight cancellations

    2) Significant delays or changes

    • In cases of early departures or delays of 6 hours or more
    • If the departure or arrival airport changes
    • If additional connections are made
    • If changed to a lower-class seat
    • If a passenger with disability passes through a connecting airport that differs from the original itinerary
    • If an alternative aircraft that reduces accessibility is provided to passengers with disability
  5. Refund process

    1) Refund information: Notification about irregular operations and refund rights will be sent to the contact information (text, email) provided at the time of booking
    (To receive the notification, please make sure to provide accurate contact information when making a booking)

    2) Refund details

    • Refund policy: A refund fee and other fees are excluded from the refund (Refund: place of purchase)
    • Refund deadline: After a refund request is made, refunds will be provided within 7 business days for credit card and simple payments, and within 20 days for other payment methods (However, for the credit card and simple payments, the refund date may vary depending on the card company)
  6. Other: As an alternative to a refund, we can offer credits in the passenger’s name (valid for 5 years from the date of issue)
