Unaccompanied Minor (UM)

Eligibility
  • International flights: For children between the ages of 5 and 11
  • Domestic flights: For children between the ages of 5 and 12

*Child and infant reservations can only be made on the company's website or mobile platform when purchased together with a flight ticket for a parent or an adult aged 18 or older. To purchase a child ticket separately, please contact our reservation center.

User Guide
  • At the departure city: The staff in charge will accompany the child from the check-in counter until aircraft boarding.
  • Inside the cabin: The flight attendants will care for the child and ensure their safe travel.
  • At the arrival city: The staff in charge will accompany the child until they meet with their guardian at the airport.
    ※ Korean-speaking staff may not be placed at overseas airports due to their circumstances.
Notes
  • The child must be accompanied by their guardian at both departure and arrival.
  • Failure to request the service in advance or submitting the application on the day of departure may result in the inability to travel.
  • The service may also be unavailable if the required documents are not submitted at the airport when applying.
  • In addition, the following necessary UM documentation must be completed: UM/YPTA Application Form and Declaration of Parent Guardian Form.
  • This service is exclusively available on routes operated directly by Asiana Airlines. It is not applicable on connecting flights with other carriers (Codeshare flights are excluded).
  • For the safety of child passengers, the service is only available if the layover time is within six hours.
  • An application is also required if the accompanying guardian (adult) is traveling in a different class from the child.
Fees
  • Domestic flights: 100% of the standard adult fare applies
  • International flights : Adult fare + USD 150 per flight or 15,000 mileage charge

UM/YPTA Service: Application Process and National Policy

    Apply for UM/YPTA
    • Please apply for service through the Asiana Reservation Center up to 24 hours before departure and receive a confirmation.
    • You must provide personal information & contacts of the guardian who will send-off/pick-up the child at the departure/arrival city.

    Fill out the UM/YPTA Application Form

    Submit the application at the departure city airport (check-in counter)

    Asiana staff will assist the at the arrival airport. (passenger pick-up location)

  • When going to the Philippines, minors under the age of 15 who are not accompanied by at least one of their parents must have the necessary documents and fees according to the WEG (Waiver of Exclusion Ground) as required by the judicial authorities in the Philippines.
  • If these regulations are violated, please understand that the child may be restricted from entering the country.

Notes
  • If traveling with the father: No additional documents are needed if a minor under the age of 15 is traveling with their father with the same surname.
  • If traveling with the mother: If a minor under the age of 15 is traveling with their mother without the father, they must bear documents that can prove that they are family.
    (May be substituted by an English copy of the resident registration indicating the relationship between the child and mother or a notarized copy of the certificate of family relationship)
  • If the child has any of the following visas, the WEG is not necessary and they may enter the country alone with the valid visa.

  • If a minor under the age of 18 intends on traveling to Saipan alone(or with a guardian other than his/her parents), they must prepare the notarized English of parental consent form.
  • The parental consent form is required to be notarized, but unnotarized parental consent forms may be denied boarding or restricted from the entering the country.

  • Unaccompanied minor service is mandatory for children under 14 years of age when traveling alone to Vietnam without parents or guardians.
  • Minors with Mongolian nationality under the age of 18 cannot apply for UM and YPTA services when exiting Mongolia.
    (Minors under the age of 18 with a nationality other than Mongolian may apply for UM and YPTA services)
  • When minors with Mongolian nationality under the age of 18 exit Mongolia with a guardian other than their parents, they must bring a notarized parental consent (power of attorney). (Mongolian or English).
    Please note that parental consent (power of attorney) is mandatory, and you may not be allowed to exit the country if you bring a parental consent
